RF Wireless Networking

RF is commonly used in the wireless communications industry to describe equipment using radio frequency waves to transmit sounds and data from one point to another. In computer networking, RF is used to describe network devices (hubs, bridges, etc.) that transmit data signals using radio waves instead of data cables or telephone lines. An RF site survey is a process by which test data is collected and used to determine the number and placement of access points, so that there is adequate coverage throughout the facility. In most implementations, "adequate coverage" means support of a minimum data rate to the required areas. An RF site survey can also detect and identify the presence of interference coming from other sources, which could degrade the performance of the wireless network being implemented. A clear line of sight (LoS) is one of the most important conditions for creating reliable wireless links within your WISP or Wireless Backhaul links. All wireless signals are attenuated when they encounter obstructions. The goal for every WISP network designer is to reduce the amount of attenuation by deploying clear LoS links.
